Default Question about my new Hurst Shifter?

I posted earlier about my new shifter install......

https://mustangforums.com/m_2468551/tm.htm

For those who have installed a Hurst Shifter, I have a question about the rubber boot...

Does the lip on the bottom of the rubberdust bootpictured below
[IMG][/IMG]

Fit into the below pictured lip on the new shifter....OR....does it stretch to fit underneath?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Yeah, and its also a pain in the A$$......i basically just want to make sure the interior of my car does not get soaked in a downpour.....even though the opening should be sealed like I have it now....

I honestly do not remember, but I don't remember having any trouble so i'm guessing I didn't put it under it.

No dude, your thinking to much. It goes on exactlyhow it came off. With the arrows pointed down, around the shifter. Of course to do this you will have to take the boot and the handle off and then put it on.I would also suggest being generous with locktite onthe screws so they don't make noise.

Gotcha Trill.....the only thing is that was the only thing I didnt pay attention to....I couldnt remember if that lip stretched under the shifter or seated inside kinda against that brass ring pictured. I think I got it right so Ill leave it alone. Thanks for the info!

ABSOULTLEY LOVE THE SHIFTER THOUGH!

Glad to hear it, out of curiosity have you gotten any rattling going on with it?

No rattling yet, Stewart, I tourqued the crap out of all the bolts and used locktite. I have noticed that the sound inside the car is a bit louder. Not that this bothers me, but I wonder if the bidy of the Hurst does'nt baffle the sound of the tranny and driveshaft as well. I personally am loving it!! My favorite/only mod as of now.

These guys are talking about putting locktite on the bolts that go through the stick...bottom of stick is black, top part of stick is chrome. The instructions only tell you to put loctite on the one bolt down on the shifter rail, but you need locktite on the handle bolts as well. I installed mine at first without loctite and the handle bolts came loose twice before I applied loctite AND torqued down some nuts on the ends of the bolts.

Absolutely no problems since.
