Odd driver's side flasher behavior
I've been having an intermittent problem with my front driver's side turn signal flasher. The side marker light works okay, but the flasher light doesn't always work. When it doesn't work, I get the rapid blinker arrow on my console, of course.
I've tried three different bulbs (2 chrome and 1 regular amber) that work fine in the passenger side, but when I put them on the driver side they will either not work right away, or work for a short period and then stop working. Once they stop working, they may start working on their own 1-2 days later. I've tried twisting and trying different angles on the wiring harness, but that never makes the light work. The socket looks okay, but it's hard to tell for sure. So are there any known issues with the flashers that I could look at? If not, what is the most likely culprit? Socket, wiring harness, flaky/finicky bulbs, or something else? BTW, I could have caused this when I put my clear lenses in, but the sockets and wiring were not replaced at all. Thanks. |
RE: Odd driver's side flasher behavior
Sounds like a short. But finding it might be hard but not impossible.
Maybe a wire could have been damaged, if not that, probably the socket. If you don't want to mess with it, just change the socket and take it from there. At least you have a starting point and then eliminate things after that. Make sure the back ones work too. Not so long ago, I had the back not working and the front one was fine and the rapid blinker on my console. It was neat though, you have 2 bulbs on each side in the back. When one of the turn signals burns out, you still have one blinking. |

Back works fine. Only the front driver's side has this intermittent problem.

Time for dealer warranty service!
Could be a turn signal switch, Gem module (if thats still the term). Or a short who knows where. |
