Default UDPs in hot weather

I am going to have 4.10s installed. So I called a couple of my local performance shops to inquire about price ect. Anyway, I asked about UDPs as well. The first shop said that I absolutely shouldn't do itbecause in FLA it makes a serious dent in your ACs capabilities. He absolutely did not recommend it. The second shop said that UDPs are great, even in FL. What's the deal?

I live in South Carolina where the tempatures are in the 100s with the heat index and I haven't any problem. Notice my car is an 05. I have owned it since 04. Maybe they know history of other cars but not this one.

I have also heard both versions of the story. The reduced output of the accessories makes sense....but everyone that I know who had installed them say that they've had no problem. Probably the problems will arise if you sit in a lot of traffic. Accessories spun by an 800 rpm motor might have trouble....but not a 1600 or 2000 rpm motor........

Well, it is a FACT that UDPs do decrease the output of your accessories. That is where the HP gain comes from. If they didn't decrease accessory output, they wouldn't give you any power. This is freshman physics--conservation of energy.

Is it enough to be concerned about? Not in my experience. I installed mine in the middle of the summer here in south Texas. I have had them on the car through many 100+ degree days. The car operated fine. I did measure my A/C system performance at idle before and after installing the UDPs using a thermometer. After installing the UDPs my A/C was blowing a few degrees warmer than it was before the swap. I could clearly see it on the thermometer, but I could not feel a difference actuallysitting in the car. Did the UDPs decrease my A/C system's performance? Yes, but it was a LITTLE bit. I don't think anyone would ever notice unless they actually got out a thermometer and checked. Even so, the difference was so small, who cares?
