Yes, but unfortunatly I think the oil pressure, battery, and coolent gauges are nothing more than dressed up idiot lights designed to stay right in the middle under all conditions after warm up as long as nothing fails. Real gauges do not behave the way the factory ones do.
Yes, it's true. Ford has a fancy term for them, but they are nothing more than fancy idiot lights. Ford was concerned that owners would see their gauges move - not understand the implications - andbring their vehicle in for service. So, undernormal operating circumstances, the gauge needle residesat the predetermined location. Yet another example ofFord penny-wise foolishness within a solid vehicle.

the gauges are not idiot gauges.......
if you would take a look at them every now and then you would notice that they do move...my oil temp is always different depending ont the weather, the battery went down when it sat for two weeks, and my oil pressure got steadily lower until i had to take it in for service.....the only idiot thing about them is the idiot reading them...LOL jk ....True they don't vary as much as a traditional mechanical gauge would because it is electrically monitored and run and minor changes are not displayed,or it would be bouncing around like a crazy bastard and everyone would freak....so in a way your right, but they do work they are just not what your used to....

and only the fuel guage does it i think....my oil pressure dropped to zero and it didn turn red.....

Well here's what you need to do- next oil change, in the middle of it, after all your oil has been drained, start your engine! Let us know how red the gauge turns!!!

i am probably the only one that has experienced hits BUT,

i hit the side of this girls driveway backing out after dropping her off (it was fall and leaves were all over and i didn't see the side of her raised driveway) and the sound just seemed like my suspension landing like 6 inches down so i got out and took a quick look, nothing looked damaged so you know, i started driving home. Well i look down to check my speed and the temp gauge is climbing FAST. so i pull over, pop the hood and look at the radiator and fluid is all over, and the bottom of my radiator is ripped open from a rock or something. the under side of my bumper was ****ed but i couldn't see that with the quick check that i did before because i would have had to get down to like knee height to really see it. the gauges really work great and i would probably have blown my engine if it had not responded to the heat rising so quickly, they are kind of ummm "dampened" tho to smooth out the movement.

I know in some chevy's, the oil pressure gauges moves, like it should move. Mine is always a tad to the right or towards the H, with RPMS rising or falling, it should move........Everything else can stay in it's spot, it doesn't bother me. If ford had a A/F ratio gauge in them, it would stay at 13.5 and never move no matter the rpms.....

I like the fact that the info center beeps and tells me the km's I have until empty...will have to see sometime what it's like when it changes colour...

Oh yeah, and I got over 500km's to a tank yesterday on my drive home from my Parents place...that's as many km's as I could get with my modded Focus...
