I live in a quiet neighborhood, and I have the Stingers. I also happen to be a member of my homeowner association's board of directors. There is nothing wrong with my stingers in terms of local noise considerations (they make my teeth rattle inside the car, but that is another issue). Quite to the contrary, my neighbors can see and hear how smoothly and slowly I manuever in and out of the neighborhood.

If I tore in and out of the neighborhood, that would be a different issue entirely.

No complaints at all thus far.

If I had to worry about the neighbors that much I would think about moving. I'm three houses in from a main road in a good neighborhood and there are carsgoing by on that main road with their sound systems vibratingmy windows, now that' s ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!!!!

ORIGINAL: CrazyAl

Of course. You never need to remove the frame brackets. Just loosen the clamp that holds the muffler onto the pipe. Then the whole muffler will just slide out of the mounts.
hey crazy, thats what i thought and i worked 5 mins on 1 muffler, there is no way that you can remove the muffler without removing frame brackets, unless you break or dent something.. i was pulling so hard, and it was coming to edge but the H pipe was shaking so bad and i thought i would break something and i had to remove the frame brackets!

Why should you lose out on your car ? Find a friend with an F250 Diesel truck, if you can borrow it for a week.... then ask your neighbors, which car would they rather listen to in the morning.... Im so lucky to have old foogies for neighbors, they cant hear well anyways... hehehe

Whew! Perhaps I should clarify the situation. I live in a cul-de-sac, which is just like a amphitheater. Personally, I don't give a rats a-- what the whiners think, and there are a few of them, but in my line of work, I need to stay on good terms with these folks, and most are friends. I'm not catering the complainers, I just want to be considerate of the nice ones. There's a rice-burning honda up the street with a 6" exhaust tip on his 1" exhaust system that thinks its cool to cruise thru the development in low gear to keep the revs (and noise) up. Of course it sounds like a weed-wacker but that doesn't stop him. All your comments are appreciated though, thanks.

The problem with trying to keep the RPMs down is the STARTUP!! I have the stingers and this winter on days when it's cold, man, that think just hangs up there between 1500 and 2k rpms, and there's nothing that can be done about it. I think the silencer deevice would be a great idea. Put them on in the morning, start it up, wait until it gets to idling normally, and then take them off.

It's nice to hear there are still folks out there that are attempting to be considerate. On the one hand, I agree with the majority that you should be able to do do what you want to within reason to the car, but it's also cool that you're thinking of people other than yourself. I personally think too many people are "born entitled" these days.

Good luck in whatever you end up doing.
