Another note, his Vette is not 300hp. He has a cross fire series V-8. They only put out about 275hp at the fly, with his being a 6spd he is prob getting about 250 maybe 260 to the rear. This is assuming that the car is in excellent shape and low milage. The only Vette made around that time frame that was worth anything was the ZR-1 and the Grand Sport. Both of which are very rare and had more hp. With your V-6 on NO2 , wider tires, drivetrain upgrade you should be able to beat him with no problem. The late 70's, 80's to early 90's Vette were the worst Vettes made when comparing them to all the other models. The emmisions restrictions killed these cars.
1993 Corvette's had an LT1, not a L83 crossfire 350. 300hp, 330lb-ft. The Corvette had already gone through 3 motors by 1993, L83, L98, LT1.

Obviously that's what I'm doing with this thread!

I think I'm just gonna go with these parts. Although it would be great to have a 400+ rwhp V6, my main goal is to put down 325-350 rwhp. How much rwhp do you think I would be putting down with this setup? If I don't quite get 325 rwhp, what other parts can I add?

XCharger HiPo with tuner
PH 1 piece aluminum driveshaft
FRPP 3.73 gears and T-Lok
Hurst shifter
lower and upper control arms

Your enthusiasm is great!

But not to sound likean old guy giving advise but listen to the wisdom of Ruf.

What is interesting is that you want to beat him now, have put a lot of thought on how to accomplish this, yet you are practical enough to know this will take a considerable amount of time.
However, your looooooonnnnnnnngggggg term plan is motivated by the here and now. What's to say that during the long time it takes for you to transform this V6 into a screamer your pal doesn't mod his car, or worse yet, sell it and buy something much faster, like a modded terminator that runs 11s or another chevy or what ever.

My point being long term plans are great, but don't build a car to beat someone else. Make it your own and do what makes you happy, just have the insight to know that this pal could be making his own plans too.

The first thing you do is go to your local magazine store and buy the Feb issue of Modified Mustangs, then turn to page 88, read how to, where to, and how cool a 11.5 1/4 in a turbo 6 banger really is. Then save like your trying to buy a house and enjoy.

I never understood the 'sleeper' thing. It seems like a lot of time, effort and money to fool someone into thinking you're car is slow. I'd imagine your 'secret' doesn't stay a secret for long within the car guy/girl community, thus you're car is no longer a sleeper. So what you're left with is a car that looks(to the average joe driving by) as a basic grocery getter V-6 Mustang.JMO

Stainless works is actually prototype testing LT's for the S197 V6's right now...

And guys the early LT1 vettes SUCKED... They had lots of issues and I would hate to own one. I would take the V6 stang over a 93 vette any day of the week
