Lost your Fob?...

Lost your Fob?...
DON'T GO TO THE DEALER!
This last weekend I go to get into my car and my fob wasn't on my keychain.
My wife told me the week before that my key ring needed to be replaced. I told her it was fine.
Because I was too lazy to find another key ring, I lost the effin' fob.
I called the dealer, they wanted $57 for the fob and another fee to program it. After I heard $57 for the fob, I didn't ask about the cost of programming.
You all said I could do it on my own, it's in the manual. I read it in the keyless entry/keypad thread.
YOU WERE CORRECT!
I went to ebay, got 2 fobs for $18 shipped. One brand new, the other slightly used.
If anyone is curious and needs to do this. It works, don't go to the dealer. The fobs you get on the net or else where just has to have this part of the partnumber: 2S47-15K601
The one that came with my car is 2S47-15K601-AB
The ones I bought are2S47-15K601-AA
The new ones work just fine. I don't know what the difference between AA and AB, other than the pictures on the buttons are slightly different. I can live with that, for $18. Now I have a spare.
The reprogram instructions are on page 68 in my '06 Mustang Manual.
Cheers!

RE: Lost your Fob?...
I was skeptical about the fobs from ebay but I think I'm going to try it out. I lost my extra set of keys to my car. Any recommendation for replacing the key itself? Did you happen to get a quote from the dealership on that as well?

No I didn't get a price quote for the key, thankfully I just lost the fob.
If you lost your spare key too, you're screwed. The key on ebay is cheap too, $20 +shipping. The dealer is probably going to charge a third leg to cut it and program it.
You have to have two keys to program the extras.
The dealer has to hook up that little computer thingie and program the new second key for you.
Sorry Man, that's a bummer!
