Rodeo
You certainly can believe what every you wish.
But I never seen a "N" cast 9in until 68 GT 428.
The shelby's had back seats and a normal front seats except for the Rs and you couldn't buy on of those.
Try-Y headers you could buy over the counter and they also came on the GT
Added gages was called a Rally pack and was on the GTs
Traction bars, There were none on either Shelby's or GTs.
And , relocated front control arm mounting points. This was done on the UPPER control arm. and I might add, DUMB. It threw the caster and camber off. This was a production car just like the rest of the mustangs that shelby's put some stuff on. The Rs may have relocated the control arm but , again, you couldn't buy one.
My claim of quarter mile times are senseless? I didn't make the Shelby specs people write down what I wanted them to write down. You have a computer, Just put in Shelby specs and go there. (My claim) My claim is shelbys suck and were slow, that’s my claim.
And your right, 14s back then was fast , for most people , My 428 Mach 1 would do 1320s with G7015s same as the shelbys had. The only cars that were as fast as the 428 mach 1 back then was the Buick. and the 375 hp 396 camaro. The AMX was in the Boss 302 and Z28 field 14 0s.
And I think this is two things.
1. like Orion says, Its old news about the new shelby GT
and
2. You like old shelby's , that’s fine. Let me not like them, ok?

My favorite Mustang was the 69' Boss 429. Shelby never came close in my eyes. Only thing I like from Shelby are ther Cobra's. (Not the GT 500.) Making a Mustang Cobra and putting Shelby's name on it, was a stupid move by Ford. Not a bold move. Would have much rather see a 5.4 Supercharged 2007 Cobra, and a 2007 Mach I, and a 2007 Bullitt, and a 2007 Boss, etc.

I have been saying just what you said for years, at least until 05 when they had no cobra. Ford makes a better car than shelby and far less $. Waiting for 3 years was just a money thing for Ford , (to sell the Shelby.)
They already have all the parts they needed to make the car in inventory. some retooling maybe but the stuff is there already. A blown 5.4 is in the GT, retool it for a oil pan and mustang motor mounts, also a blown 5.4 was in the lightning, Clutch and trans from a lighting would be fine.I can't believe Ford would have a problem with electronics so where is the problem that shelby had in making this thing that the dealers sell for double?
People , for some reason, think shelby is some kind of car genius, he was a fair racer, he built a awesome AC cobra ( only after he went to GM first and they turned him down) The rest of his stuff is just high priced mustangs that anyone with a little ability could have done.
I would have much rather seen Roush put his name on a V 10 BOSS , at least he knows cars.

Huh, a 1966 Shelby GT350 just cosmetic? right!
a 1967 Shelby GT500 just cosmetic? okay!
I think you have some bad information and the new Mustang Shelby GT has ben discussed on all the forums for months...... not new news!
+1,000Where the heck has that guy been??Also, Ford isn't doing the modifications. The work is being done by Shelby American. It will be a "real" Shelby, not a "Let's buy a license to use the Shelby name on this car." like the GT500 that rolls down the same assembly line at the same time as the V6s and GTs. The Shelby GT is shipped from Ford to Shelby American and the transformation takes place there. Thirty years from now, the Shelby GT will be worth more than the GT500. It's being made in fewer numbers than the GT500 and it's a real Shelby. I wouldn't mind having one at a reasonable price. If it's gonna be priced at $40K, I'd just by a GT500. Between $33K - $36K? I'd buy it.

That Shelby deserves just a little bit more like pullys, 4:10 gears, Maybe some headers shortys or long tube headers.
That would be for a drag car. The only Shelby that was meant to be a drag car was the GT500. The others were built to be road racers with handling rather than all out acceleration in mind.
