Ive said this plenty of times.
Get a set of 17" takeoffs.
Makes the price of tires cheaper
Availabilty more
Changeovers pretty much free, and no damaging wheels from dismounting twice a year
and a narrower tire = better snow traction.
4 tires is a must. Some places wont sell you 2.

No, go with the 17 stock size 235/55/17. so close in diameter you wont notice a change.
If you have a SCT2 or preditor you can adjust it yourself.

YUP, I'm an 'ol fart. But, I remember up to the early '80's everyone had RWD, and everyone knew how to drive in any condition.
Once FWD (not 4wd) came about, a whole new generation, learned FWD cars.
RWD, with proper rear end weighting, and snow tires, will go, and "handle" as well as, any FWD car. It's learning, and experience. PULL vs PUSH, very simple,...... but, hard to learn. (and expensive)

First rule is: never, never drive 60 MPH on an icy road. Are you kidding? There aint no studless tire gonna stick to ice at 60 MPH! Your lucky to be alive. drive 35 you will live longer.

Thanks to all the replies. Before the accident happened, I didn't know the road was covered with ice. I drove at a little slower than normal highway speed, 60 at 70 limit zone. Next time when I get my car back, I'll drive it a lot slower at that road.
Also, why are someone are supprised that I drive my Mustang when snowing? It's my everyday car. BMWsare RWD cars as well. Are Mustangs particularly bad in snows?

snow tires go in the back for RWD and on the front for FWD.
No need to get 4 of them unless you have 4WD.

Also most of the vehicles braking is done with the front. Again, no point in going forward if you cant stop.
