Yeah, the Crutchfield adapaters are nice. The only drawback is that you have to pay Crutchfield prices to get them! (And you've got an extra connection in the system)

You can get brand new 6812s on Ebay for about $40 a pair, brand new in the box, shipped to your door. I got two pairs shipped for $70.

Best buy & circut city sell the harness adapters for about $9 per pair. Don't look where the speakers are go to the install garage and they are on the wall. Take a speaker with you because there are several for fords, the one you want is square not rectangular.

I have them in the deck and the components in the doors and there is a very noticeable difference. You can't add them in the deck and keep the front speakers stock (subs OK). When balanced, rears are for fill and fronts setup the sound stage. If you cannot afford four speakers, do the fronts first.

This is a little (ok, a lot) embarassing but could you help out a TOTAL noob with his stereo setup? I bought my 06 GT with the Skipper 500 and like most was underwelmed. I am getting the Pioneer AVH-P6800DVDhead unit,a good (5 channel amp, if I said that right) and a good subwoofer. Should I be changing out all the other speakers with those 6812s you guys are talking about? If so, it's 4 of them right, 2 in the back seat area and 2 in the door? Ok, here's where it gets really bad. [sm=smiley5.gif]The big speakers at the bottom of the door, are they subs? Any good or do I need to replace them too? Then there is perforation closer to the top of the door, are those the speakers you are talking about replacing or are there tweeters in there? For that matter, are there tweeters or any other speakers I missed? What about the speaker wire, do I need to upgrade that too? Sorry for the lame questions, I really don't know squat about stereos. -Joe
