Did you use primer or anything else or all you did was put two coats of the engine enamel paint?

Also can you please just tell me how long you let it dry before reinstalling and driving it again?

I used a spray can of cleaner/degreaser. Then I went over them with a scotch brite pad to rough them up for the paint to stick better. then wiped them down with a clean cloth twice. Sprayed the first coat on both, the can says to do the second coat within an hour or wait 7 day so I waited about a half hour. Went to bed and they were fully dry in the morning

Best$4 ever I spent on the car!
By the way, the picturesshow the blue looking much lighter than it really is.

Thanks! I already have the paint, but have to wait for all my repairs to get done(body work).

Anyway in the mean time i'll purchase some degreaser and a scotch brittle pad.

I'm doing mine black, when I get my car back in a month... I am also waiting to do my brake calipers.

How long have you other guys been waiting before putting the covers back on? Also how many coats did you go with tickletmonster?

-Jeff
Mine went back on like 18 hours later I think and i used the same gaskets. If you are carefull they are reuseable.

if you bought the Dupli-color just read the directions on the back. It say to spray a light coat, wait 10 mins, spray another light coat, wait tenmins, then spray a med coat.

I sprayed a couple of light coats waiting every 10 minutes and then sprayed about 4 med coats again waiting about 10 mins.

I sprayed about 3 coats of primer before hand, basically I did it until they where covered even.

they where dried by morning and I'm waiting the 7 days for the paint to cure before placing them back on.

I just had mine powdercoated. Took two hours to take them off by myself. Found a guy to do them in chrome with a clear finish on top for $90. Got them back same day too. Took two hours to put them back on but this time I had an extra pair of hands holding the wiring harness out of the way. Other than that it was a piece of cake to do. Had a minor leak on both sides. I have a couple bolts a quarter to half turn and that did it.
