i have two rattles and they both suck and im not sure where one of them comes from... one comes from the back window and another comes from the dash near the air vents on the passenger side,,,, they annoy me but they only rattle on first start up what its cold so its all good.

you'll know if its a mirror rattle, every time you close the door you hear it and you can grab the black plastic mirror housing and it kinda wiggles up and down.

i just went and took the mirror off the car, comes off very easily. the problem is the inner part is plastic welded to the housing so you cant get into it. mirror is back on the car and it rattles just the same. its something to do with the mirror assembly and the housing rubbing on each other somewhere inside the mirror. time to take it 30 miles away to a different ford dealer. argh!

apparantly the glass can come out and maybe i have a shot at getting to the bottom of this issue. if i fail, jmk3 has also found a guy on ebay selling new mirrors for less than 60 bucks that i believe to be chinese knock offs. they may not rattle like the fords do since its a different manufacturer

I found that what was making noise in my car was the plastic behind the doorhandle that hides the screw.

pops right out on the top, and then lift up (theres hook things on the bottom)

add a piece of foam or stuffing from walmart or your girlfriends pillow

problem solved!

Isn't the internet cool. If you can't figure something out the answer is probably out there somewhere. Glad your rattle is fixed, I wouldn't have ever thought the mirror came apart that way. Pics are great.

wheni said fixed i was reffering to the inner trim piece behind the door panel (in response to agleon)

im gonna go take the mirror off again and try to pop the glass out.... crossing my fingers to not crack the glass
