Default Superchips 87-Octane tune has transformed my '07 V8: Should I go 91?

Even after I got a K & N CAI andan exhaust tune, the car felt a little choked-up. No longer. The 87-Octane tuner program I uploaded into the car yesterday from Superchips had an amazing effect, delivering a great deal more horsepower and torque, especially from a standing start. It somehow improvedshifting (manual) probably by eliminating all the throttle lag and slop that are puzzlingly built into the factory tune.

With this tune the car is now genuinely, gratifyingly, fast. I couldn't upload the 91-Octane tune yesterday as I had 87 in the car. The performance tech says it's the shizzle. I'm sure it is; even the 87 is pretty radical. Before I do this can anyone comment on the pros and cons? Obviously I know I'll pay more for gas and, yes, I will be sure to reinstate the factory tune before the car's scheduled services under warranty but what else might I need to be aware of here?

The $3 or so a tank it is going to cost you to get 91 octaine over 87 octaine isn't enough money to even think about.
As for restoring the factory tune before you take it in, don't bother unless you plan on putting the factory air box and hose back on also. Even then, if they are picky enough they can tell if you have reflashed or not. But it is highly doubtful they will give a damn.

Whatever you do, don't install the 91 octane tune... you'll never go back to the 87.

Well, the CAI and pipes were mods done with the approval of the dealership. And I had the same performance shop handle the tuner. Do you want to know something I didn't? You have to restore the stock tune because if you do not and the service tech reflashes your car with an update to the factory tune, the aftermarket tuner will no longer be able to program the car; this is a specific disclaimer in the Superchips documentation.

Do you want more power? If yes, then load the 91. If no, then don't load it.

Also, as far as the stealership, screw them. I'd have my work done elsewhere.

Yes remove the tuning EVERYTIME before going to a Ford dealer. Even if you are going to the body shop or getting a oil change.
91 is good stuff!!!

I just want to welcome "superchips tuner" to this board, unless he's been lurking here forever, that is. Ron will answer virtually any question put to him on the SC Flashpaq boards, he's an expert inaftermarket performance and his standard of service, along with the product itself, have enabled me never to regret spending a chunk o'change on his product, the Flashpaq 1825 tuner for the Mustang V6 and V8. As I said at the top of this thread, I'm running the 87-Octane program for another week and the improvement is night-and-day. Bring on the 91! Why do these cars come out of the factory so choked up?

Ron, I'm "barry90039" on your boards and I've just been there to post (I promise) just one more goofy question about the K & N tune.
