Default 2007 GT500 Insurance

Any suggestions on an underwriter for the GT500? My carrier (state farm) won't write the car at the purchase price w/ a non-depreciating policy. Hagerty's website is 1986 or older. Any suggestions appreciated.

I'm not sure what you paid for the car, but given the current markup / selling prices, I don't think an insurer will write a new car policy for $15K - $20K over MSRP... unless you can convince them that what you paid is the market value. Maybe they are balking at the "non-depreciation"?

If you are in California, you are going to find "replacement cost" physical damage coverage difficult to find. You may be able to obtain this type of coverage if your insurance carrier has a policy designed for collector or show vehicles, but for a street vehicle, you will probably be stuck with an actual cash value (ACV) policy like the rest of us. I believe Progressive or one of the other direct writer insurance companies has this kind of coverage, but it is rare in CA.

It is always a good idea to do a reality check and see if you can find some projected repair costs for common minor accident damage. If your new car is totaled, however, you are always screwed by the ins companies... For a new GT500 with the ridiculous mark-up, you will be additionally screwed by having paid substantially more than what the ins company will consider the ACV. All that and they don't even buy you dinner first...
