New mustangs modeled after 69's?

RE: New mustangs modeled after 69's?
Echos of 1967--inside and out
In distilling 40 years of history into the new Mustang, the design team reverted back to the styling of the popular 1967 model. A long hood and shark-like nose coupled with a short rear deck, three-lamp taillights, side c-scoops, and a large grille mark the new coupe's ties to its mid-60's heritage.
Thai-Tang the Chief Engineer of the mustang,
"We talked to a lot of Mustang owners as we were developing this program," said Hau Thai-Tang, chief engineer. "They are a very passionate group, and a lot of them told us – very strongly – that the all-new Mustang had to have a solid rear axle."
The signature long hood and short rear deck capitalize on 40 years of history, as do classic design cues that have helped define Mustangs since the 1960s: C-scoops in the sides, three-element taillamps and a galloping horse badge in the center of the grille. The Mustang’s menacing shark-like nose imparts an attitude not seen since the 1967 model, while jeweled, round headlamps in trapezoidal housings are part of a striking new design flair.
It was the look of Steve McQueen and “Bullitt,” during the heart of the muscle car generation. It was the 1967 Mustang rounded and sculpted, the long-hood, the short rear-deck look that symbolizes V-8 power.
IMO - They took the best features from the 65 - 69 mustang years.
Thats My Opinion

RE: New mustangs modeled after 69's?
moosestang - just my opinion since it was your original objective - 68WANAB is ok...but... I guess WANABE seems like sort of like a "poser" - just me.
Maybe you should open it up for suggestions. You have a lot of number and model choices based on the replies.
my first suggestions - IGT694U, 69DREAM, EVOLVE69, 4EVER69, MYNEW69, LUVDA69
More to follow. (as you can tell, I go with the 69)

RE: New mustangs modeled after 69's?
Guys, the question was which model year does it most resemble. I'm aware it has similarities to many years.
Now the roof line from the 65 fastback does look familiar.

From an overall standpoint it mostly resembles the 69. The bodyhas cues from 64-70. Hardtop roofline 66 GT-350. Side body line 64-66. Tail lights 1970. Front with foglights 1969. Front V6 67-68. They took the good points from all the 60's models and made a modern refined version. I think we can all agree that ford finally got it right!
