Default 500+ HP GT or GT500

I have a stock 06 GT, and I am looking to get roughly 500hp out of her, but also make it a good road racing car. My other option is a GT500, although I would need to keep this kind of stock, I could do a few things.

So what type of things would I have to do to my GT to make it safe around the 500-550 range?

KB or whipple supercharger.

suspension mods.

thats it really.

but the stock internals are only good to about 450 RWHP.....................the shelby puts that out stock i think.

the stock 4.6 wont safely hold that much hp it will hold about 450 to 475 pretty safely... the block can hold more but your rods wont take it .

For road racing youll need a lot of suspension work donebut with a little work to the gt500 youll have a pretty good road racing car and you have the 5.4 with already around 500 hp so you can do a little work to that and build it up a bit more.

An 03 or 04 cobra would be good as well ... you can throw a whipple on them and be up there in your HP numbers those cars respond so well to mods

Dude if your other option is a GT500 than go with that. It will be much more reliable and stronger. Not to mention a few bolt-on parts and a tune, the GT500 becomes an absolute beast. To tell you the truth though, for the kind of money it takes to buy a GT500 right now, I would just get a Z06. Just my .02 though.

Well I suppose one major aspect I should have stated earlier is that if I get a shelby, then I will only pay very close to MSRP

Oh ok, well in that case you will either have to get extremely lucky, or you will have to know the owner of a dealership personally to get one for even 5-10k over MSRP.

to me it's a no brainer....don't make this any
more complicated then it has to be. if you can
get the gt500 near msrp then i say do it.

post pics when you get it

So far the only advice to getting a Shelby at MSRP is to just bring the KY to the dealership. So do yall have any advice?

if you don't have a connection at a dealership,
then to get one near msrp will require waiting
for a year or 2.

there are many of us who would love one, if
we could get it for ~ 45k
