This noise may be 100% normal, it may be due to carbon on the tops of the pistons and it may be due to the lack of a check ball in the oil filter. Motocrafts are the only ones for the 3 valve I have seen with this check ball.If it goes away gradually as the engine warms - it's carbon or normal.

Now that's funny, right there! I'm the last person to make fun of what somebody posts, but good heavens I wouldn't have come to a forum with a bunch of tough guys, racers, and mechanics like this one and said that my mom started my car every morning. Surely he must be kidding us.
