ORIGINAL: hogpowr

It sounds like they,(after-market), have worked out the problems with boosting the 3v motor. When I first got my GT there were alot of horror stories of thrown rods, broken pistons, and etc. Now you guys have me thinking I need a supercharger,...................
The original problem was they were OVER boosting the 3V motor so it blew up.

Having been a Mustang follower since 1982(and owner since 2005), I will admit I'm very partial to the centrifugal-type superchargers, when Vortech/Paxton were the only choices in the 5.0L days(yes there were others, but not as developed). I, too, will be Packin' a Paxton come next year(need to keep the miles down on my '06!!!! 0nly 8,000 as of now). Plus, for me, the benefits of a centrifugal supercharger is less weight over the nose(compared to root/twin-screw designs) and the 3V engine is a great revver and this goes hand in hand with a centrifugal design. Plus for $4,700(from Brenspeed) you get the unit, fuel pump, larger injectors, the air to air inter-cooler and the intake filter plus the SCT X2 tuner(although since I'm not too rough on my car I think a non-inter-cooled version from Joe Blows at $3,400 might fit my budget better-comes as above minus the inter-cooler). Glad to hear you're very satisfied with the Paxton, I have a friend with a non-inter-cooled Novi on an '05 and he hasn't had one single issue. As a bonus, since I live in Cali(with our stringent smog laws) the Vortech and Paxton kits are 50 state legal(plus we only get 91 octane premium-and probably pay a lot more for it than those of you who get the 93 stuff[:'(], last I checked it was $3.49/gallon at a Union 76 by my house!).
Ahhhh to own a Mustang!
