RE: LT's and inspection in Texas
and some people around here will go to another county and the inspection place may look the other way with a dead president or founding father
I can't be sure if it works but I've heard of it happening

In our great Republic of California, we're home of the infamous "Smog Check" program. Basically, much more strict than any other state. The good news is, if you only keep your 'Stang for four years, you don't have to have it smogged. The bad news is, any longer than four years, and you have to have it smogged -- which means anyone who does straight pipes, CAI, tune, etc. better get it back to stock prior to the test! Also, every two years after the first test, you must have another. And, with Smog Check II, all the readings are done on a dyno under load, so the parameters are much tighter on emissions.

besides the HP increase, i was wanting LTs and a high-flow catted H-pipe for the sound as well. I've heard some GTs with that setup (not Corsa mufflers though) and i liked what i heard. If it didn't take so long to switch out, i'd just trade up each time it was due for an inspection.

In San Antonio, there is litteraly an inspection place on every street. All you need to do is go to the west/southside of town, and "accidentaly" slip the inspector an extra $10. He will honk your horn and give you your sticker.

I was reading an article on long tubes versus short tubes on the S197's. The horsepower difference between them was less than I had expected. The long tubes were only 5-7 hp more. The tests were run without cats. So if you gotta have cats and you want headers, maybe short tubes would work for you. Most of them are 50 State legal.
