Default Help ! Did I F'up my car/gears ??

Hey guys, about 4 weeks or so ago I said I kept smelling something burning. I didnt see any plastic and didnt see anything leaking. Well, on the way home for luch today the car was making this horrible sound from under neath. I got home parked it and looked under the car and could see the gear oil leaking out just a few drops. Im sure now that it mustve been slowly leaking and burning on the pipes. So, did I totally F'up the car driving it home ? Should I have the guy who did my gears come over and check it out ? Help ! please tell me that I didnt just chew up the gears [:@]

Where is it leaking? You'd pretty much know it if you f---ed up your gears. You'd hear some pretty awful sounds. Get someplace pretty quick and check the level of the fluid and why it is leaking. You're probably OK.

hard to tell where it was leaking exactly. I only saw a few drips. Im guessing its been a slow leak for over a month now. I hope its ok. It sounded awful as I was driving home. Im afraid to take it anywhere for fear of screwing it up worse

If it sounded awful, coming from the rear, car drove alittle different and you see fluid, i would say your gears are toast. You need to take it back to the person that did the install and let them check it out. could be leaking from the pinion seal.

It wasnt a grinding sound but more of a whining, screeching sound. Is that just as bad ? Wouldnt the gears make more of a grinding sound ? Ahhhh, F !!! I hate this [:@]

Sounds like a combination of things. Maybe the pinion seal is leaking, and the clutch pack in the rear is burning out / was set too tight.

when my 3.73's in my 95 GT, it felt like it didn't really wanted to go or drive, making weird noises, no grinding though.

Based on the sounds you hear the gears you had installed are most likely toast. Did you go through the proper break in procedure after getting those gears installed? Did you start doing burnouts and hard acceleration right away after getting them? If so you destroyed the gears. And it may also have been a bad install.
