I just realized on both louvers, one of the three pieces of 3M tape came off. The louvers are really loose.
I threw away the template, so how should I place the new 3m tape? Any suggestions?

Does anyone know the thickness of the top piece of tape? I need to buy some 3M tape thatis close in thickness...

I would call ROUSH they should have everything you need.

Maybe the surface where the louverswent was not stripped properly...

Use isopropl alcohol to wipe away any grease or dirt from the surface before applying the tape...

Also, it helps to mount these things in warm weather too..

That is why I would be to scared to get louvers.

Don't get me started on this tape thing. My wing I picked up the edges are starting to lift (cleaned properly). Good thing I bought the Ford CS side scoops because they have hardware that holds them on, but also tape. The back top corner is now not sticking either. And cleaned it twice with alcohol. I am no longer a believer in that 3m ****

Yea - my blackout panel is coming off too - the 3m tape is coming loose on the bottom. It stuck to the car but is coming off the panel itself. I have superglued it back to the panel for now, but eventually I am going to take it off and just have that part painted black. I too have lost faith in 3m!

I agree! 3M tape sticks like holy hell if the prep is done right. You must apply the tape in warmer temperatures--at least 70 degrees F. The surface must also be extremely clean. Wash the car with detergent to remove any wax that may be present--do it more than once so you are SURE any wax has been removed--then use alcohol as a final cleaning just before application. However, here's the kicker that very few people are informed about: Common drugstore "Rubbing alcohol" usually contains lanolin as an additive. They add it so if you use the alcohol for medical purposes it doesn't dry out your skin. Unfortunatley, lanolin is basically a natural grease--you don't want to be leaving that residue behind for adhesive preparation. Instead use denatured alcohol from a hardware or auto parts store or use the high-strength (99%) isopropyl alcohol from the drug store. It does not have the lanolin additive.

As ususal, great information on something many of us did not know......While I have never had an issue with 3M sticking, after final prep with household alcohol, this is great information.
