GT 5spd + snow = !!!!!
OK, I don't know about ya'll, but my GT is my daily driver and I live in Chicago. Well lately it's been about -5 F with a high of about 1 degree, and yesterday we had a ****load of snow...so much that the plows couldn't keep up. There was about 1-3" on all roads for several hours until the snow stopped and the plows could clear the road, so this was really the first time I drove on some serious snow.
All I can say, is that with 2 snow tires (Michelin X-Ice) on the rear tires, I had almost 0 control. At 30mph, driving was a controlled slide. Hit the brakes, and pray that I stop without going sideways. Slight turns on the expressway at 30mph was a nightmare. And ANYTIMEI hit the gas in any gear, no matter how slight, I started to go sideways. Absolute nightmare!
I don't know how you guys drive this car in any snow...it's impossible to control!!!

Well in 3 inches of snow you are lucky not to get many cars stuck. I can drive the mustang when its snowing without a problem. But that is when there are cleared roads with minimal build up. Not a highway with several inches going 30mph.

did you have the TCS on??? I've not driven in snow... as in NY we havent had any yet.... but in the wet a few times the TCS seemed to do a good job keeping the rear in check

I had mine out the other night in the snow. It was cold here for a week and an inch dropped within a short time frame and stuck instantly. I drove home without incident.
I have 4 bridgestone blizzacks on mine. No weight in the trunk yet.
Two snow tires work fine. As long as you don't need to stop or steer.
If you are in serious snow though. As in deep snow. It is time to park the stang and get something with 4wd and some ground clearance.

2 snows on the rear willonly get you moving forward. Snows on the front will actually get the car pointing in the direction you want to go. With the stock tires, you are plowing your way through the snow.
Ibought 4 Blizzaks on 16" steel rims from the guys at the TireRackand my car handles great in snow. Also less wear and tear on my rims as I dont have to swap tires twice a year.
