Does Ford REQUIRE me to have them change my oil?

Does Ford REQUIRE me to have them change my oil?
Hi,
The way the dealer made it sound THEY have to change my oil in order to keep the car under warranty. This sounds fishy to me but whatever.
I'd prefer to do it myself so that they don't scratch up my side skirts etc. I have a lowered car and I don't want them yelling at me about the springs either. I also want to do a cold air kit and a tune and I'd prefer not to take the thing off every 3 months just to have them change my oil.

No you can do it your self just keep records like receipts for the oil and filters as proof if you have a warranty claim later. My dealer will give me two sets of tires if i get all my service done at the dealer. So I think I may be having them do it to save having to buy the tires.

Try Jiffy Lube they do a bang up job.

You don't have to have ford do it at all and I highly doubt you are going to need to produce any proof that you changed it yourself. I think most of us here change our own oil.
But the Jiffy Lube way is the best. Your dealer will love you for that.

Slightly o/t but if you talk to your dealer about mods like a CAI and exhaust tune, they may well refer you to a trusted third party for the work and thereby eliminate any unpleasant surprises over your warranty. That's what I did. I'll reinstate the factory tune before warranty work but as far as the airbox and pipes are concerned, I'm not intending to restore the stock parts. The mods were done with the dealer's blessing so that dealer's service dept is unlikely to make a fuss.

My dealer told me of a plan they where running on the tires. If you get your oil changed by them every 3000 they warranty your tires for 3/36000. If you get the oil done somewhere else your on your own with the tires. That my be a dealer option but that was what they told me when I got my 07 three months ago.

seems every dealer is different. mine told me the CAI and exhaust was ok as long as it didnt mess with stock sensors (my CAI did not require a tune). they himmed and hawwed about not getting the oil changed there using their oil, but as long as i have receipts and keep records of milage and dates when i changed it they will honor the warranty. they DID say that i HAD to use the proper weight oil though.
I use pennzoil full syn 5w-20 and k&n oil filters, oh and even though they say 5,000 miles for blended oil i am still changing at 5,000 with the full syn

I've been sticking with the Motorcraft oil and filters. They are cheaper at walmart or autozone than most other good semi-syn oils (valvoline, castro, etc.) and I figure if it's good enough for Ford, it's good enough for me too. I may switch to mobil 1 later on, but this works for now.
