MOTHER OF ALL LEAKS!

RE: MOTHER OF ALL LEAKS!
I hate to say it but you really need to look through that Serious post and add your problems to it.
You didn't say but were you parked on a slope? I don't remember if it's facing uphill or down, but that can contribute to the problem. I know we got a lot of rain late last night in SoCal so I'm guessing you weren't driving in the rain? That would make a big diff because if you had driven through a deep puddle and just not noticed the water, due to it being nightime, the cause might be different.
Good luck! Hope there is a TSB on this one

RE: MOTHER OF ALL LEAKS!
I was parked on a flat parking lot. It poured for a couple hours, but was basically dry other than the puddle inside at 10am the next morning. I am running speaker wire into the doors this week anyway, so I think I'll just pull the dash and fix it myself the old-fashioned way. It's interested how I washed the car last week for over half an hour and not a drop got into the cabin, but a little rain went to town...
If a TSB comes out, I will drive it all the way back 500 miles and have the dealership deal with it, but it is not worth my time at the moment.

TSB's are not recalls & do not have to be fixed for nothing after waranty period ends. They are used to guide techs on known repair problems but have nothing to do with your warranty.

RE: MOTHER OF ALL LEAKS!
If Ford does find out why it is leaking the right thing would be a recall all as it is a known problem but due to money constraints by Ford they will probably only issue a TSB & work on the ones that come in with the leaks. Probably stalling so that most 2005's are out of warranty to save money. Can't believe they do know or can't find the cause since it affects a lot of Mustangs.

you don't have to take it to the same dealership you purchased it at...

RE: MOTHER OF ALL LEAKS!
I hope everything works out for you. Man, would I be pissed about that leak! My car is an '06, got it since Nov, and so far it has passed the test (no garage here, sits in driveway all the time)
One of the reasons I traded in my '00 Vette for this car, that musty water mildew smell is nasty!
Good luck!

Make sure you add your vote to the current poll here on how many SN197's leak.
At this exact moment, out of 122 respondents - 20 have a leak - about 16% - or about 1 out of 6 vehicles. And of course, pass the word. If you have a SN197, you should be checking under the carpet pad for a leak.
