Cracked windshield. Does the repair really work?

Cracked windshield. Does the repair really work?
Hi. I was driving my '06 Stang today a a rock whack my windshield. The damage was a chip in the glass and what appears to be a small crack underneath it. I can not feel the crack inside or outside the car. I want to catch it before it spreads. Has anyone used those auto glass repair services like Safelite. If so was it worth it, and how did it look after it was repaired?
Thanks for any info.

Those types of repairs are meant to stop the crack from spreading. It will still be visible.
Sometimes they work and sometimes the crack still eventually spreads.
That's been my experience.

I've used those repair kits on two other vehicles in the past with good results. It was hard to see the repair unless you looked close and there were no crack spreads.

I've also had good luck with the repair service that drills a small area and then applys a glue that is forced in the crack. Works very well to keep it from spreading. Doesn't look too bad considering it's a crack.

many ins co. will repair it w/ no deductible and if if cracks later they will replace it at n/c at least worth looking inti but do it quick if dirt gets in the chip it may become unrepairable
