Default 2 Shelby 500's at dealer

Hey everyone. Just on breakat work.

Yesterday, I did a drive by the dealership and saw a red striped mustang on the showroom. No, it couldn't be I thought. I did a drive by again, and yep, a Shelby.

It was time to oil change and rotate tires on my GT, so I took it in today. This is Jim Babbitt Ford in Flagstaff, AZ. They have 2 GT500 coupes -- red w/white stripes, black w/white stripes.

Price was 43k, "adjustment" of 20k. Same on both.

I am going back after work to pick up my Mustang. I am going to take some pictures of both vechicals. Anybody interested in seeing the pics? I will post if so. If you want specific pics, just post a request, I will check this in one hour for any...

This was my first Shelby GT500 I've seen up close. Impressed to a certain degree, but disappointed in numerous ways. Damn nice tho.

Pat

I dropped off my 4.0L coupe today at Evolution Performance for some work. Their black 9-sec GT500 was under the dyno lift, with a black GT500 on top. Next to their screamer was a red GT500 ragtop. There was a white GT500 with NY tags out front, down from still another black GT500 coupe. Talk about sensory overload! Sorry, but no pics... [&o]

Thats a deal. Someone told me they were selling the GT500 for regular price no mark up, so i jumped in my car and said I was going to buy one. Got there (ft myers fl ford) and they had it listed 88K with mark up. Asked them if they were joking and they said no they sold 2 in the past month like that. This was back in December, I did get a good deal on a eddie bauer expedition with no miles, listed at 45k got it for 34k. Any 62K is a deal!!

WRONG!!!

They were not selling the black race car they were selling a GT500 that they put there Stage 3 package on.. Just like a Roush or Foose stang. It was not the race car that you see in the vids. They are just selling a new GT500 with a mod package they added to it.

Oh and I got an email from one of the dealers I was talking to back in october when I wanted to buy one. The price the emailed me was over 70K..had me rolling on the floor. Emailed him back to not bother me until they are doing MSRP or better on them.

There were some things about the car that screamed "not this value"... The stripes on the car. I was under the impression that the stripes where painted. Terrible error on Ford's part. Another disappointment on the stripes was on the spoiler. You could see a 1/4" overlap of stripe and feel multiple edges. Are all Shelby's stripes this way, if so, Fordtopped the cake with shippy icing.

I love the hood on the Shelby & got a cost from the dealer of 789.00. I think the engine badgeis a very nice touch, but just doesnt make up for the damn stripes!!!!

Here are a couple more pics... I love the Cobra badge.
