RE: 3.73 Gears
I got 3.73s installed in my automatic and as everyone has stated "there is a huge difference"...
And -- if you intend on supercharging in the future, the 3.73s are a great gear for this set up...
Congratulations!!!

RE: 3.73 Gears
I put in the 4.10 in my auto and they woke up the car, what a difference
I run a 13.3 in the 1/4 full weight on street tires,
MODS: JLT II CAI, 93 SCTTune, UDP and Axle back MAC mufflers
This year my quest is to hit 12's with a few more mods.
TCI 3000 Stall, Aluminum Drive Shaft and suspension

RE: 3.73 Gears
Just a dumb question, but I seem unable to locate a place that sells the gears...Where are you guys getting your gears from, and are you doing the install yourselves, or taking them somewhere to have them done?

RE: 3.73 Gears
3.90 to 4.10, looking at rpms,is notthat bad of a jump in rpms, i just meant 3.90 would be better than 3.55 gears. also after looking at the 2005 mustang GT rear axle calculator, i'm going with 4.30's. with my stock rims and tires, i should be doing mid 80mph in 5th gear at 3Krpms and that's not bad at all.
Also 4.10's will give better gas mileage than 3.55 or 3.73's in the city, if you keep your foot not planted to the gas pedal. From stop light to stop light, it will give your car a more mechanical advantage and use less power from the motor to turn your wheels to get you moving from a stop. usually you gain about 1-2 mpg in the city and less on highway. if you get on it alot in the city, then yes, you will see crappier gas mileage.
go to brenspeed.com or americanmuscle.com or google ford racing gears.

RE: 3.73 Gears
Not much seat time with 3.31's (maybe only 15 miles on the test drive ), but with my driving requirements I decided to have the dealer install 3.73's and not 4.10's . I do a lot of highway driving and felt the 3.73's would be a better choice than the 4.10's (less rev's, less noise, etc).
