CAI & Tune: Which tune and octane are you using?

RE: CAI & Tune: Which tune and octane are you using?
Well, I was able to get a pretty good ~50 mile test drive today, thoughI wasn't able to "get on it" that much at all. But, I did not notice any pinging and the car felt strong using the 91 tune and 92 gas. Will get it on a dyno as soon as I can to look at the A/F but may not be for a while (month-ish?).
Please keep posting your tune (89, 91 or 93), gas octane your using and ~elevation.
Thanks again. [sm=gears.gif]

I use the 93 octane tune on temperatures 65 degrees and under.
I use the 91 octane tune on temperature 65 degrees and over.
I always use 93 octane gas. Sometimes I get an occasionally ping but the gas here is horrible. I'm not worried I have over 40,000 miles on mine. I also know friends here who have another cars that ping sometimes. Go figure. It's the gas. There is this stuff call 1-XR it's an octane booster with liquid nitrous and they have a fuel cleaner as well. Great Stuff only two dollars a bottle for treatment up to 20 gallons. You have to use at least one bottle for five gallons of gas.

http://www.x1r.com/racing9.htm is what I'm talking about. Use can buy it at Auto Zone. By the way I'm at sea level.
I recommend this too with all this octane you will need to keep your system clean or you will experience sooner or later like me a dirty throttle body that had to be professional cleaned because I was tripping a check engine light forirregular idling.

Dude their isn't really any major difference in the tunes in my opinion. I believe my car runs better on the 91 tune then the 93. remember when you do these modifications sometimes you have to give up something for the other. Hell you might of had bad gas. That's why ford has a conservativetune just if that happens. Good luck. This is just more proof that not all cars are the same. Email me at droberson8@sc.rr.com

I think youre right about the gas, i think they are selling 87 octane as 93 and 89, the gas is so bad nowadays high compression and advanced timing engines need boosters. Nobody inspects the gas, the state is supposed to check the pumps every year for accuracy but the pumps around here have inspection stickers dating back to 05. Were all getting ripped off.

Brenspeed 93 tune. Runs like ascreaming banshee compared to the 91 tune. I don't know how much faster the 93 tune is, but it sure sounds faster and meaner. I have a jlt intake.
I guess we have good gas here in Florida, i try to always buy amoco/bp, but occassionaly I buy chevron. I must be about 300 ft above sea level.

93 octane brenspeed tune, with JLT 2 CAI. 93 octane gas. runs fantastic. sometimes a little pinging under moderate throttle, but rarely. when i get the car back im gonna try it on the 91 octane tune to see how she runs.
