Default *CAI/SCT TUNER*HP GAINS?

hey i'm really new to this i just bought an 06 gt. it came with a k&n cold air intake with an sct tuner and flowmaster exhaust..

can you guys tell me if this is a good setup? and also how much hp i should have now? the guy at the dealership told me around 350HP i thought that was kinda high.

also i'm gonna be doing some more mods here coming up and i was needing what i should be looking at?? nothing too expensive like couple hundred dollars a piece and also what they do if u don't mind since im' still learning.

thanks in advance

Yeah, 350HP for CAI/Tune/Exhaust isa little generous. Best thing to do is spend a couple of bucks and a little time and take it in for a dyno for a baseline and air/fuel ratio. Then you'll know exactly what you've got and a baseline when testing future mods.

Is it a stick or auto? If it's a stick check into an aftermarket shifter.
What is the gear ratio? If I'm not mistaken the '06 came stock with 3.55's. A lot of people in these forums are loving their 4.10's. I've got 3.55's (option for '07) and to me this ratio feels good. 4.10's would be fun though.

Oh, btw, if asking about HP maybe stating either base HP (at the engine) versus rear wheel HP (what's left after the drivetrain). 350-ish might not be so far off if base HP but get a dyno so you'll know for sure.

Finally, welcome abord and enjoy your new ride!! [sm=happybounce.gif]

Umm the tuner with the Aircharger will only gain you about 18-20hp,Most guys here get the C&LCold Air Intake or the JLT II. with a Good tuneon these setups are getting around 30hp.
the K&N has aMAF that is the same size as he stock intake tube, so most of these gains are from the tune. Stock Rear Wheel Horse Power has been around 265 on the Manuals that equals 300HP at the engine crank, thats before thedrivetrain. You will loose about 18% ofyour HP in the drivetrain. So the dealer telling you that it has 350 was a bit of a lie. I would guess you are about 320 at the engine and 285 at the Rear wheels, Just a guess, I do not know ifyou have an Automatic or Manual, who made the tune? to tell for sure you will need to have it Dynoed, you canjoin a local Mustang Cluband they sometimes have a club dyno dayfor a fun get together.

You nowhere near 350 HP. You maybe have 275-285. The K&N is anly good for 15 or so and the tune will add some but I am guessing its a stock tune so its not the best. The exhaust adds nothing in the way of performance, only sound. I would save up for a new CAI and tune from Brenspeed or B amachips. You will see a night and day difference. Sorry the dealer lied out his *** to you. I hope you didnt purchase the car based on the line of bull he fed to you.

i new there was no way it could have 350 with only that stuff done to it. i was more thinking like 315-320 at max.

any ideas about what to do next?? i was looking into 4.10 gears what does everyone think? or 4.30s? i don't know much about them. again thanks in advance

Well I have the K & N plus Magnaflows and don't be discouraged, zesty, it's night and day compared to the choked-up performance of the factory V8. What makes a huge difference, however, is the tune. If you want to spend money on making the car go faster, have it dynoed, as the others say, and get a custom tune, preferably for 91-93 Octane gasoline. My Superchips Flashpaq tuner ran me $500 but, when combined with the CAI and pipes, was the best performance dollar I've yet spent on my GT/CS. You'll get a significant boost in both HP and torque -- never mind the numbers -- and the car will fly.

Stock rwhp around 230ish. Im guessing with your setup your MAYBE pushing 260ish ( maybe). Add a supercharger and you might be around 350. People love to inflate their hp numbers, dont worry tho, when someone pulls up next to you claiming 360 hp and you walk him with 280, then youll see whos smiling.
