thanks alot guys for all your posts. Ill be sure to try the foam under the pillar fix some time soon, hopefully that works. Im kind of weary about bringing it in to the dealer only because i have a hurst shifter, and i have a feeling they my just try and throw the blame on that.

ORIGINAL: TPony

Folks, I think TSB 06-4-1 (RATTLE/NOISE FROM THE CENTER STACK TSB 06-4-1 (RADIO/HEATER) OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL OR GEARSHIFT AREA) covers this problem. I got a copy (.pdf) of the TSB, if you can't find it send me a PM. Don't know how to attach to this post.
I've been noticing a rattle from the center of the dash board/radio area too! Rattles drive me crazy! I'll send you a PM.

If it's where the pillar meets the dash, pushing some wedging material between the 2 seems to fix it. no need to take it apart. this was discussed a year ago and it's a simple fix for most rattles.

Aaaaaaah! Today while out enjoying the weather with my Stang, I heard the darn rattle! I grabbed the leather boot around the gear shift at the bottomand you know what?.....It STOPPED!

Someone else posted that the leather gets stiff in cold weather and may cause a rattling sound. They also suggested to use a leather conditioner to help soften the material. I'm just glad I can now enjoy it without any rattles!

Does anyone have instructions for removing the pillar moulding? Same problem, rattle when it's cold, but it appears to be coming from both sides. Thanks!
