ORIGINAL: 06 Black Beauty

Looks Awesome man. Looks just like mine..hahahaha. have you noticed any smell of paint after putting them on? Just curious, as I have for about a week or two.

George
Actually, yes I have but not too much. I can only really smell it when I lift the hood.

As for how long the paint will last... I'm skeptical. I noticed that it is REALLY easy to scratch down to the bare metal again, even after 2 coats of primer, 3 coats of blue and 3 coats of clear. I'm hoping that the heat of the engine will sort-of bake the paint on a bit.

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

I dig it. Same color as the stock covers on my 65'. I want to remove mine and polish them, but I'm not sure how to protect them so they won't stain later. Oh, I flipped my C&Lgaskets so they would be red since all of my poly bushings and interior are red.

You did use 900* engine paint, correct? If not, it won't stay on very long.

Well, its not 900ยบ paint, its the 500ยบ engine paint w/ceramic. Same goes for the primer and the clear.

Here's the link: http://duplicolor.com/products/engine.html

The 1200ยบ is more for painting exhaust pieces, etc. that get really hot. They only offer that paint in a limited amount of colors.

Looks great!
Hey ghost, that color did not come out till 69 I think. Colors in 65 were gold (Hipo) or a darker blue.
