4.10's are in
Had my 4.10 gears installed on Saturday and I am very pleased with results. After putting some miles on the car I laid into ita couple times today and can't wipe thegrin from my face. The car pulls so hard from the hole and even feels better pulling in third and fourth whichfelt -pregears -a little on the long side to me. No concerns at all with spinning to high on the highway either, the RPMS at a 70-80mph cruise are fine. Cruising in 5th 45mph feels prertty good too so maybe I won't suffer too much mileage wise.
Do this mod you will not regret it!!! Anyway....My boss just bought an LS2 C6 - he used to own an Evo but sold it right before I got the mustang so we nevergot a chance toplay. The vette istotally stock (for now)but how do you guys think my car given my mods would stack up against him from the hole through third gear? We both want to play after work one day but are both north of 30 years old and a full ondrag race is not in the cards. We're both decent drivers and plan on running 'em and then swapping cars. The vette by the way is an amazing machine. Even though its not, the mustang "feels" faster - it shucks and bucks, growls, hoodflys up in the air, throws you in the seat....While the vette is smooth, quite, refinedand planted. |

Cool bro, how'd you decide to break em in? in my 02 GT I broke them in hot and changed the gear lube out after ~ 150 miles because the shop that did em put the el cheapo oil in by my request, to break them in proper. So I could go with royal purple after I drained the original oil in case there was any metal shavings of any kind...

RE: 4.10's are in
Vette would prob win, but it also depends on the driver. If you can get out of the hole fast enough and stay out long enough....dunno

RE: 4.10's are in
Just light on he throttle for the first 20-40 miles, thenvarying revs for ~150 miles.
I don't plan on changing the gear oil anytime soon...meaning I'm not treating it like it's a fresh motor. I may get flamed for this but differentials can go 10's of thousands of miles w/o ever changing gear oil. I'm running RP out of the gate, will look at changing maybe in an oil change or two. |
RE: 4.10's are in
And I know the vette will win...Just wondering if I will be reading his license plate the whole time.

I changed it because there is a slight chance of metal shavings destroying your brand new gears, its all good. Sorry for the off topic commentary, you should win from a dig (back to subject) ORIGINAL: Chevy Convert Just light on he throttle for the first 20-40 miles, thenvarying revs for ~150 miles. RE: 4.10's are in
I just ran a stock c6 w/ a 6spd manual and let's just say from 20-115 it was all vette...he put 2 1/2 cars on me but any longer run and i'm sure it would've been more but it was 100% stock and I have a few minor bolt-ons...mph wise their trap speed freaking kills my best trap by 5-6mph but i don't have gears so i'm sure you might be in the range of 107-110 w/ other minor bolt-ons...good luck...

A shot N2O and you'll leave behind you!

RE: 4.10's are in
How can you compare the 2? One is a 27K dollar muscle car, the other is a 45K dollar sports car. Vette winner unless your coming blown and even then depends on the driver. Apples 2 oranges.
