My driveway is on a slight incline too but I always put it in 1st gear with the E-brake when I park. If I'm not mistaken, when I had my '82 GT, the owners manual suggested to park it in Reverse.
Yes I recall seeing "reverse" as the recommended parking gear. This makes sense since it is usually the lowest gear ratio in the transmission, and thus acting as a better engine "parking" brake than the other gears.

Do you people read the owner's manuel?
It says in the manual.

Having said that, I have forgotten what it actually says but reverse is coming to mind. I usually leave mine in first. If you back in, I'd leave it in first too.
