ORIGINAL: Fourth Horseman

I've been considering Optimas for both of my cars.
Why?

All non gel-cell batteries are pretty much the same. Theyre all made by 2 companies, 1 is Johnson Electric, damn cant remember the name of the other. So basically the difference in the battery is the warranty thats sold with it. But the battery is identical. The only ones that are different are deep-cycling batteries. Those are usually marine batteries though.

PS: Optima gel cells are the best though.

According to Consumer Reports all batteries rank different depending on size. Each year, different batteries rank the best in different sizes. Never have I seen one consistant brand rank well in all sizes. IF you know the size you need I can let you know which ranked well in that size,.

is there a difference in the weight of all of these batteries listed? When the time comes to ge a new battery I would like to put on in that weighs the least but still gives my good CCA numbers of 500+. I thought the red topped optimas were pretty light (35lbs) compared to the stock 55lbs battery.

Any thoughts?
