Default Saleen fitment with stock hood

According to JDM you will need lowering mounts if installing a Saleen S/C under your stock hood. No other vendor mentions this. Has anyone had this issue? Is JDM using a slightly different unit? Help is appreciated b/c I do NOT want to change my mounts.

Default RE: Saleen fitment with stock hood

I've spoken with one local shop whom I'm considering to perform an install. They said that the SC does fit with the stock hood (specificaly stated the engine does not need to be lowered). However, the hood liner may need to be removed. Though they did not state this specifically, neither did I ask (I may have read this somewhere?). I'm slowlyjust starting to gather information on this same subject.

Info appreciated from anyone who has this SC please.

When I talked to them they said the new engine mounts are only needed whel using there stage 2 kit the the new intake. The straight Saleen with stock intake should be fine.

I have a Saleen SC on my 06 GT vert. The front of the blower does rub on the hood insulation, but does not hit the hood itself. It has the stock motor mounts. No issue. It wouldn't hurt to be a little lower, but it doesn't HAVE to be.

+1 Same here. Saleen s/c on stock motor mounts...........it is snug against the hood liner, but it fits just fine. Lowering mounts do help with the potential firewall clearance issues though, and also clearance issues that can happen if you use some of the metal racer breathing tubes that are on the market. I'm still using the stock breather hose, so no problems there either.

+1 on fitment. No issues with motor mounts i am using stock mounts. No interference with the hood.SC touches a few places on the liner but no big deal. Also no issues with the S/C hitting the firewall. Some guys actually bent the firewall in as needed.I think mine looks just fine.

Yup, me too. Plus I am running the C&L Racer intake and hump hoses. Rubs the insulation a little, but not causing any problems.

If you notice, JDM is the only vendor saying you need the shorter motor mounts, AND JDM is the only vendor selling shorter motor mounts. Hummm.... create a product then invent your own market.

Yup, pretty much. Funny part is that I got some of those same bullet mounts they use for cheap cheap, and had them milled down at my shop. Ching, I saved like 140 bucks.
