Default Steering Wheel Center Cap Oxidizing...? UPDATED!!!

I have an '06 GT with IUP and my center cap in the steering wheel is the standard tri-bar with pony. I just noticed today that there are spots forming on the tri-bar logo, under the clear-coat covering. It almost looks like something that was defective from the factory but I hadn't noticed it before.

Anyone seen this problem? Anyone got a fix or suggestion?

I'll post a pic in a few minutes.

I have the same problem. They told me they need to replace the whole steering wheel to replace the emblem and they would need it for a week. I say thats bs and its just a stick on. Just looking for a logo that size before i get at it

Hmmm.... Sounds like BS to me. A week to replace the center cap?

Here's the pic I promised. Sounds like it could be a common problem. If there are others, please post and I'll have my dealer check it out and post results. The guys I use (Wade Ford) Smyrna, GA. have been good to work with in the past, so we'll see.

Hey Mike. So do you think it's worth a trip to the dealership for that?

I just thought it was my analness that made me even notice it, but now it sounds like it's more widespread than I thought (the oxidation, not the analness...)

LOL...I don't know man, I think the analness is widespread as well....

Honestly, if mine was that severe, I would do it, but I would have them pre-order the steering wheel, if in deed the whole thing needs replacing. Steering wheel takes about 20 minutes, from what I understand.....

Okay guys, I just set up an appointment for Friday morning. I asked for my favorite SA, so I'll quiz him to see if this is a common problem or not. To be honest, I haven't seen this issue posted before so it'll probably be a "we'll have to order it" kinda situation.

I'll keep you guys posted...

Yeah, not too sure about a week to replace it, but it's not just a stick on--if it was and your airbag deployed you would have a pony and tri-bar embedded in your forehead. Not too fun.
