Question About CAI's

I read about this somewhere, wondering if anybody has any info on the subject.

Disconnect the battery for about 4 Hrs, while battery has been disconnected install the new CAI. When the CAI is installed and battery has been disconnected, reconnect the battery and the computer will make a change for the new airflow that is coming in.

Is this true? anyone hear this before?

RE: Question About CAI's

completely false...you have to retune you computer yourself using a tuner. CAI and tune is a 25-30 minute install.

+1 You have to adjust the MAF tables to compensate for an increase in plenum diameter. You can rape the fuel tables to do it, but that is the cheesy way to do it.

RE: Question About CAI's

ALL disconnecting your battery does, is cause the "Learn" feature to reset itself to use the default settings - - many of us using tunes have to reset now and then to take full advantage of our tunes as the computer will deminish (soften) many of the settings as you drive around.

Disconnecting the batter will gain you nothing regarding installation of a CAI. You must install a tune designed specificly for your CAI to get any true performance gain.
