Okay folks, here's my 2 cents.

A FEW FACTS AND TRUTHS ON HIDS

FACT: You absolutely need PROJECTORS. No question.

FACT: There is not 1 car on the market today (2007 model) that has HID without projectors.

And I'm not talking about those cheap dual halo projector crap ones on EBAY. You need special housings, and the saleen ones are OLDSCHOOL ways of doing things - ie - not the right way.

FACT: To get the biggest benefit out of HID lighting, you need to pass the light through a round piece of glass (similar to a prism) to give a focused amount of light on the road. See pic below:



FACT: Both the stangmods kit, and the saleen kit - just SCATTER the light.

FACT: And while it may "look" cool, and "seem" better... it's really not.

Without a projector - HID lighting is just chock full of glare and annoying to oncomming drivers.
..
So folks.. unless you want your car to look like a 1999-2002 maxima, or older e-class, or whatnot.. just wait till a REAL hid-compatible headlight comes out..

Check out the headlamp housing on the older maximas. NO PROJECTORS, yet it has HID's. And you've ALL seen these cars on the road.. the light is just SCATTERED everwhere..

Thanks I already stated that in my write up on pg one I believe.....projectors are the best and safest for all involved. Bro has them on this RX-8.

From what I have read and understand you are right. I am not sure how the Saleen Hids are set-up (I have never checked them out). Before I purchased the mustang I had a fixed up Prelude. All they guys in the Prelude forum were starting to retrofit their headlights. Basically they would break apart thier headlights, take a TSX, Audi, or other projector and then make thier own shrouds to hold the lamp. It involved cutting a hole through the back of the light to fit everything and then resealing the lamp....

This is not a stock light. It was retrofitted with a TSX projector.



Someone should figure out how to do this for our stangs!
