Default Airbag light on after swapping seats....

Swapped standard seats on a 2007 v6 for leather seats with the side airbag feature, everything went smoothly, but when I turned my car on, I'm getting what I believe is error 23(counted the light flashes) I really don't want to take it to the dealer andmess up my warranty, I NEED HELP!!!!

You will never have functionalside airbags unless there is a bunch of computer modifications done (that shouldn't be). To get the light to turn off, you must plug in the little dummy "shunt" that was on the endof your harness connector.Your original harness connector plugs into a thing that emulates an airbag squib. This keeps the light out. If youremoved this shuntand/or plugged in the airbags on the new seat(s) - the computer recognizes that thecircuit is not at the proper resistance. Hope this helps, I can all but guarentee that this is your issue.

Talk to your ford dealer, they should be able to set the programing to enable the side airbags.

Have you tried to diconnect the battery to see if the computer will learn that new seats were installed?

Yes, I did try disconnecting my battery for 2 hours and still got the error message, I did what shaners90lxhatch advise me to do and it took care of the warning light like he speculated, but my side airbags are not functional, I'm still hoping somebody knows how to make them functional without taking it to the dealer, that would be my last option.

Ahhh........No.

The "computer" (not sure what that means) can't just be reset. The Airbag Module (Ford service base number14B321) is preconfigured for "with side impact protection"or "without side impact protection".Aside from a different Airbag Module is the addition of side impact crash sensors, additional body wiring and the side deploying airbags themselves (in this case seat mounted).

No dealer is going to help you with that........airbags are part of the safety restraint system. A dealer is not going to accept liability in an accident by modifying the vehicles safety restraint system.....at least not a dealer with half a brain.
