I dynoed my car with 89 octane tune and it put down 285/301 and then went back a week later with 91 octane tune and put down 290/305 with the same weather conditions. The higher the octane the more timing equaling better throttle response, thats what it really comes down too, and my car gets the same gas mileage with all of Brents tunes 
I have tested and tried and it seems every 2 octane points is worth 4 rwhp/4rwtq, at least with my ride

If you do change the tune to 91 or 93 or whatever, and your interested in saving money at the pump (87 octane vs. 93), just remember that yes, you are going to feel more performance from the carbut youmay also find your right foot getting into it a little bit more and a little more often.
If you're strapped for cash just keep it rockin' with that 87 tune 'til you aint strapped no mo.
