Widest Tire on Stock 18s
I know this has been covered but I am not finding it. I know I am newbing it up ATM....
What is the widest tire I can fit on the stock 18" wheels? I am thinking of some BFG KDs.

I would not go wider than 255-45-18 if you are interested in handling.
Even that is a tad wide for an 8.5" rimif you were road racing and trying to minimize tire squirm.
But it is perfectly fine on the street, and approx in the middle of the rec rim range for the tire.
You may want to look into the goodyear f1's. The GS-D3's and the supercar's for that matter are pretty nice tires.

1+ good advice but if keeping to the street go big and staggered....looks great and a big contact patch will help off the line (as well as stiffer rear suspension). J

Yeah, but I would like the side walls to be the same height. My car is not lowered soit might look a little silly to get different wall sizes.

So basically, a 255/50 tire may bave the same side wall as a 265/45 or a 275/40.

Not all 45-series or 50-series (or any other side wall for that matter) have the same side wall height. The 50 represents 50% of the tire width. The 45 represents 45% of the tire width.

Examples:
A 255/50/18 means the 50% of 255mm, or 127.5mm, or approx. 5 inch sidewall.
A 265/45/18 means 45% of 265mm, or 119.2mm, or approx. 4.7 inch sidewall.
A 275/40/18 means 40% of 275mm, or 110mm, or approx. 4.3 inch sidewall.
Then there is the overall diameter difference. The 255 is about 28 inches tall, the 275 about 26.7 inches tall...

the 255/45's are the same diameter as the stock 235's so they should not look very different IMO

wow 285's on the stock 18's... that sounds like a lot of rubber for 8.5" rims.. reco rim is 10" w/ min of 9.5" according to the Nitto and BF Goodrich sites... the diameter is almost spot on....if they work that's great!
