opinion on 05 mustang from die hard camaro fan
if anyone cares.
I've never liked any mustangs except the 60's and the 03/04 cobras. liked the last gen's styling, but it really lacked power till the 03/04 cobras and I HATED the position of the stick in the 5spd. I also have a 600hp LS1 camaro... just some background info.
test drove an 05 mustang yesterday and really loved it. found a dealership with 5, yes FIVE GT 5 spds in stock, all loaded and identically optioned. they had a GREAT test drive road, lots of curves 25mph hairpins to 55mph hill/straights. he told me to go ahead and get on it, so I did quite a bit. handled really well and power was very nice, VERY fun to drive. never had any over or understeer, I didn't push it REALLY hard though. shifter is 100X better than the previous gen as well as the overall feel of the car. LOVE the stlying also. exhaust could be a little louder, but I love the design, 2.5" duals with mandral bends. 1st mod might be 2 2.5" bullets never cranked up the 1000W stereo, I perferred to listen to the engine. One minus I saw was the lack of room in the exhaust manifold area, looks like headers are going to be a TIGHT fit and a PITA to install. another is the 'upgraded' wheels, they look like ***! all 5 had the machined aluminum wheels. I think they look terrible. I would much rather have the stock GT painted 5-spokes. 1st appearance mod will be wheels.
anyway, my g/f is getting a black on black 5 spd. I was shopping with her and she loved it too. I'll see what it does at the track in a couple weeks.
P.S. sorry, it doesn't pull as hard as a stock LS1, but I still really like it
