Jba Header Install , Gone Bad Please Help!
I installed Jba header's on my v6 mustang , $450 for jba headers and $225 for install i tryed install my self that didn't work any ways the mechanic took about 2 1/2 hours to install but when he started it i loved the sound i also head Flowmaster Exhaust
We went for a test drive and the car made a tapping sound only when you Accelerate but when the car just in park or not accelerating it doesnt make the TAPPING sound
He tould me that i should drive the car for a week and come back and retorque the Bolt's and the sound will go away , He claims that the tapping sound is a leak but i notice when i got home there is a bolt missing ? Would that make this sound happen if so is it dangrous to my cars engine?
im going back tommorow but does any one know what is the problem exacley ? Any one have this problem b4?

Sound like you have an exhaust leak...it is kind of normal.
The metal flang of the header heats up and "forms" itself to you engine, hence the reason you have to come back and re-torque the bolts.
But if there is a missing bolt that is not good, but not to much of a problem.
Take it back, tell him a bolt has fallen out, end of story. I think you'll be fine.

I have JBA Headers & did the install with a biddy of mine -- never had that problem... you paid for an install so I would go back ASAP and make them fix it until your pleased

Was the missing bolt on the passenger side closest to the window?
I was missing that too, but I was told it was normal by two different places. There was nothing there for anut to actually screw onto. It looked like it was just the opposite of the driver's side, which had the hole there for a bracket. I had a problem with a tapping noise when I wasn't pushing on the gas, but it was on the driver's side where the @hole mechanic put on a bent gasket. I had that fixed and didn't have a problem after that.
I'd take a pic for you, but I don't have my v6 anymore.

Missing bolt is not good take it back and have him finish the job. Ask him if he made sure all the bol;ts were in the header box. If not call JBA and have them send you the correct/missing bolts. As for the tapping that is most likely an exhaust leak and you should not have to drive it for any amount of time. If he had started the car and let it get to proper operating temp and then re torqued the header bolts this most likely could have been avoided. This is all I have ever had to do with the JBA Headers.
