Pistons, rods, crankshaft. Then, clutch, tranny, driveshaft.

Jeez Sherwood- you just scared the crap out of me with that list!
I think now I'll just buy that $39.95 "Turbonator" contraption and a decal, and pretend that my baby's supercharged.
My pony won't be as fast as yours, but if I invest the savings ($5K SC plus the cost of another engine) wisely, I should be able to buy myself a brand new Shelby with the accrued interest in a few years.

P.S. Is there any way I can actually CAUSE the "gear whine" that some folks are complaining about?
If so, then I might do that too and PRETEND that the whine comes from a supercharger (that's what they call "American ingenuity"!).

I think this is what you need to invest in:

In answer to the original post, the rod's traditional weakest point is the inside edge of the flat spot for the bolt head. Good rods have this spot radiused to reduce stress at this point. Of course, good rod bolts are essential. The only photo of a crapped rod that I've seen on this forum was bent as it exited the block. It looked intact otherwise...so I'll have to call it secondary to a piston failure?? He was using a Procharger BTW.

Here are a couple of things I Googled:
