Default Stocked upper strut bearings (popping noise)

No wonder there is so many people complaining about the popping noise the front end makes!! I broke down and bought the $299 heavy duty upper strut bearings from Steeda. When I was pulling the cheap plastic bearing plate off of the top of the strut the plastic seperated and it must have been60 ballbearings bouncing on the floor. I have seen bicycles with better quality bearings. If some of you guys actually knew how cheap the bearings plateswere you would be surprised. In the middle of the picture is the stocked bearing plate on the left is the steeda one.

So did you put it back together and of so, did this cure the dreaded popping? All of us in the other thread would like to know.

I am also installing Steeda's X-5 balljoints, Front end links,Bump steer correction. I also have to wait for my new tires to come in after the alignment I will let you know if it cured the popping noise. I don't see how it would not cure the problem as cheap as the bearing plates are.

The strut bearings are crap, however, a couple people have gone the steeda route and had the same noise.

Right now, ford is working on a TSB that likely will include the ford equivilent of a g-trac brace between the front lca's. Similar to the verts. As well as other mods.

Most of us realised it was probably the upper bearing mount. Only problem is Ford hasn't upgraded the mount yet and the normal auto stores (jobbers) don't have them to order yet. I've tried, cars to new to technicaly need them yet. We only had one other person have the mounts your talking about (still hasnoise)but he thinks they may have been installed wrong. Good luck with your set.

I just ordered these:

Much cheaper than the Steedas.
