Have you looked at Amsoil's new full synthetic 0W20? Meets all of Ford's spec's.

Do you know that Mobil 1 is NOT a full-synthetic base-stocked oil anymore?

ORIGINAL: oakman

Over hyped? What data are you basing that on?
common sense maybe? There's only so many ways to skin a cat. I'd guess any advantage of royal purple over mobil one is not worth the cost.

I went from Motorcraft>Mobil 1>and now Royal Purple. I'm getting Royal Purple at the same price I was getting Mobile 1. From what I understand Royal Purple meets, or exceeds specs. Where is this information saying otherwise?

from RP
I omited both my name and his name from this post
The API SM oils were introduced for emissions device protection and feature a reduction in the treat levels of the primary anti-wear additives to theoretically protect the catalysts in the exhaust system.Royal Purple does not believe that the SM oils provide the same level of engine wear protection and until we can create a oil that is an improvement over the RP SL oils that would meet the SM additive requirements, we are not going to produce 'me-too' version that does not give the increased performance that we are known for.If you read Hot Rod and follow any of the Crane Cam or Comp Cam articles - this is being well documented as SM oils being a contributing factor in aftermarket cam wear issues on modified engines.Royal Purple will stand behind the use of the RP API SL oils in your car and if our oil is proven to be the cause of amechanical failure, we would assist in the repair / replacement of the failed components due to the oil. Here at the factory, most of us use our XPR line of racing oils in our street cars and we have never had any cat exhaust problems even though the XPR has 250% higher additive treat level than an SM rated 5W30 for example. So, if you still are not comfortable using our product in your 06 due to the API SM / SL I understand.Technically, you will not have any problems using the SL in your 06 vehicle due to the superior sealing of the rings with our Synerlec technology reducing the oil carryover to the combustion chamber. If you have additional questions, please email me directly.
and this info has been backed-up by comp cams
