Default RE: Great gas mileage

I took a little road trip last weekend. The wife and I rolled around 110 miles on the Stang and it averaged 27mph. I use the message center, but I verified that is was accurate many times. Most of the time it is very close. I try to keep my foot off the floor, and I get 23mpg with daily driving. I travel 64 miles per day to work and about half is stop and go. I am impressed with the 4.6 gas milage. I had a 4.0ltr first and it only got 26mpg, so the difference is not too bad.

WHat the hell...I have never gotten better that 23 for a tank. I drove from socal to colo and back and the best it was (for a while) was 24. I even tried experimenting with the speed. I got 23 whether i was doing 85 or 75.

Jason, are you reseting the MPG on each fillup? I didn't the first 1000 miles and it didn't change much from the 23/24. Resetand you see changes quickly.

My aunt asked me what the gas milage was on my car wand was schocked how good it was. She only gets 14mpg in her suv. I actually think ford did a great job keep the mustangs milage up and running on regular.

So far my best average was 30.2 mpg on the trip computer. This was from Atlanta to Macon (about 100 miles). Granted, I took it VERY easy the whole way and drove about 65 mph. I was just interested to see what mileage I could get out of my Stang. Needless to say, I was very impressed!!!
P.S. I just put some SLP LM's on before the trip so I'm not sure if that had something to do with it or not. Other than that, my car's stock.

You guys in California most likely get the same crappy gas we get here in SE Wisconsin....reformulated.....I loose about 3 mpg when I use it. I try to fill up in counties that are not mandated to use the crap gas.

I routinely get 26+ mpg highway. 30 mpg is easy at 55 but is painfully slow. I am going to do some testing this week with the new shaker scoop and see if there are any changes.
