Default Small Talk, 08 SHELBY GT

Is it just me or is ford drasticly overpricing the new 08 Shelby GT. I know from a collectors stand point that price of almost 40k may be fine, but for the guy like myself who cant buy and store a car is it worth it. The original HP rating was going to be 325 but ford dropped that to 319. I did think the suspention parts put into it where nice but certainly don't warrant that much of a price change. The pretty stuff in and on the car work but again not all that expensive. I havent done all my homework but I'm sure to clone one of these would be rather easy and not that expensive. The thing that gets me is some kid is gonna buy one of these and try to take on amildly modded GT and get smoked. I guess for a person who thinks logicly it does'nt make sense to spend that much money on a car that is so easily overtaken by one of it's supposed to be) lower models.

Personally, I am surprised Carroll Shelby put his name on something with such a small power increase over the stock car. Seriously they should have given it at least 350-375 HP to make it a significant difference going from Mustang GT to Shelby GT to GT500. Any one agree?

I TOTALLY AGREE, WHEN YOU SPEND SO MUCH YOU WANT TO SEE SOMETHING IN RETURN.

I agree to a point. Carroll Shelby is about road racing......and power is only one part of a larger pie. The 1965 GT350 was not a whole lot more powerful that the stock 289 fastback. What made the GT350 a faster car included suspension upgrades and weight reduction.

And just like the rest of us with Mustangs.....I'm sure those buying a Shelby GT will mod for extra power.

Car is not worth to me the $52,000 that Apple Valley Ford was asking for their Shelby GT.... [:-]

Ya a Shelby should mean serious HP. Doesn't have to be 500 but at least 350.

Yeah the one at my work right now is at 48,000. It looks good but I do think its more of a collector stand point. It does have nice handling but nothing a GT owner could easily achieve.

I think they missed the mark slightly on this one. If it had 350 hp (not a huge stretch), then they could call it the GT350. I think that'd be cool.

Ah well. I saw a Black one with silver stripes at the Ford dealer a couple weeks ago. That thing looks badass. I would love to have one just for the styling of it. But, at almost twice the cost of my GT, I had to pass this time around.

They have 2 at Capital Ford too. Both with a $10,000 "Market adjustment" They look nice but is $10,000 really what you want to pay for a stock GT with Shelby's name and a few parts bolted on?

I SAY!!! Spend ALOT more and get a GT 500!!!!!!!!!!!
