Should they total it? Yes

Will they total it? Probably not.

So, some important lessons here-
1. Get a beater to drive in the snow if you don't have proper snow tires and lots of experience
2. Don't bash someone who doesn't know the first rule! We all didn't at sometime in our pasts!
3. If you DO get in an accident, be sure to take your car to a very private area and do a number on it with a SLEDGEHAMMER! Or maybe get a bumper off a junk car the same color as the one you hit and go to work with that. Or use a tree trunk... Finish the job and make sure it'll cost over $20,000-25,000 to repair! With even a minor amount of body damage, like I had in this photo, they will have to do extensive body work and painting and they WILL screw it up! It won't be like it was originally, especially if insurance is paying for it. Better to junk it out and start over new!

Ouch, not good. I like one of the suggestions above, fix it and trade it...

Thanks for the support! didn't expect 2 pages of responses!

you guys mirror my thoughts, i'm on the hunt for a beater 4x4 now. When (if) she gets back from the body shop I’m going to think about trading her in. I may wait till the '08 model year if some of the rumors are true

i didn't have a chance to put the sand back in the trunk, and i really didn't expect it to be that bad. i also stuck to the main roads instead of my normal backloads so maybe it was stupid to drive it but i really had no other options. (I’d like to also blame hurricane shawartz the nbc10 weatherman, its hard to take a man in a bow tie seriously)

I’m thinking about walking to Wawa down the block (fiancé' has the other car) if she is still outside at the body shop i'll snap a picture

Thanks again for the support!

Whether or not it's totaled, you won't want to be driving a car after it has frame damage. You will have soooo many problems in the long run, and it might not even be as safe once fixed. Bite the bullet and get a GT. You will be happy with it. Also, don't drive on ice anymore.
