Default Shaker 1000.

I honestly don't know anything about stereos and the like, the car came with the Shaker 1000. Anyway, yesterday we got hit with a "wintry mix" and when I was leaving work I had all kinds of good stuff frozen to the glass. So I opened the trunk, and when I did that some snow got into the trunk and some of it landed on the Shaker. So I brushed it out and I thought all was good. Radio was fine on the way home.

Today, going to work I started the car.. let it warm up. When I was driving away the radio dimmed down to almost silent-mode, yet the volume was about 20% up. Then the shaker began to make static sounds. I don't know what to do. Will it be ok and eventually go away or do I have to take it in and get it replaced?

Thanks.

How much snow we talking?

Let it dry, use a hair dryer if necessary. Try it again.

If not, warranty it, but make sure it is completley dry before you go.

To me, is sound like the snow wasn't to blame...

We're talking about miniscule amounts. How should I dry it? Should I take it out and bring it inside? Is taking it out something that's rather easy to do?

What do you think was to blame?

I wouldnt think snow would do anything to it. The speakers are protected pretty damn well.....the amps are behind the subs and they might got wet, but I dont think the snow had anything to do with it Take it to the dealer as this should be under warranty.

Speaking of Shaker 1000. My car is only a week old. The stereo was working fine for the first few days. I didnt have it cranked or anything. All the sudden, the subs in the trunk do not work at all. And whenever I use my keyless remote, any function, I get a loud thump out of the trunk subs. And a minute after the car has been locked or unlocked, it does it again. The Shaker is turned on on the head unit, and nothing ( such as water or hitting ) has happened to the sub box. Ive made an appointment to get it looked at, but Im just wondering if anyone might know what it is or has had this problem.

I would bring it to the dealer, and not mention anything about the snow.

I would doubt that water on the subs would do anything, especially to the deck... The Deck is simply sending out a line level audio signal to the sub amps, all the current is coming from the amps and not the deck...unless they do something really wierd.

I would suspect that the problem is not originating from the sub box but from the deck....

So the possibility of it getting slightly wet has nothing to do with the problems I'm having? Plus, even if the subs got a little wet, that wouldn't affect my entire sound would it? Like I said, I have to crank it to 40% or more in order to hear it at a decent level.

I would say that getting it wet is not the cause and it is a coincidence.
